Senior Brigette Root embodies the team-first spirit of the Nebraska volleyball program. A walk-on to the program, she has been a valuable reserve the past three seasons at the setter position. After serving as a backup to two-time All-American Sydney Anderson and 2010 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Lauren Cook, this year notching the first double-double of her career against No. 23 Michigan in her first career start and following it up with a solid performance in a sweep of Michigan State in her second start. The Grand Island native took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to answer some questions to help you get to know her better.

Breakfast, in any form. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast, oatmeal, coffee....I'm there!

What you would do with a time machine:
Be more careful on my RipStick, so I would still have my front two teeth

Kirk Cousins (Michigan State quarterback)

Something a lot of fans wouldn't know about you:
I was in show choir in middle and high school. I love to sing, dance, and perform!

When you're not competing, you like to:
Relax! Read a book, hang out with friends, cook, be outside, or spend hours on Pinterest

Superpower you wish you had:
Invisibility

Pregame rituals: Do my left side first for everything (taping, socks, kneepad, shoes), put on my warm-up at the last minute, put my jacket on the third chair and pray with Jordan and Brooke

Jordan Wilberger

Best athlete you've competed against:
Some of my own teammates, especially Jordan Larson

Why you chose Nebraska:
The tradition, I grew up watching this team and there was nothing more that I wanted than to be a part of it.

Best thing about Nebraska:
The standard we hold ourselves to. A university and program of excellence, honesty, hard work and love. 

What you want to do after college:
Go to school in Omaha for two more years to become a radiologist technician
