Senior Brigette Root embodies the team-first spirit of the Nebraska volleyball program. A walk-on to the program, she has been a valuable reserve the past three seasons at the setter position. After serving as a backup to two-time All-American Sydney Anderson and 2010 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Lauren Cook, this year notching the first double-double of her career against No. 23 Michigan in her first career start and following it up with a solid performance in a sweep of Michigan State in her second start. The Grand Island native took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to answer some questions to help you get to know her better.

What you would do with a time machine: Be more careful on my RipStick, so I would still have my front two teeth
Celebrity crush: Kirk Cousins (Michigan State quarterback)
Something a lot of fans wouldn't know about you: I was in show choir in middle and high school. I love to sing, dance, and perform!
When you're not competing, you like to: Relax! Read a book, hang out with friends, cook, be outside, or spend hours on Pinterest
Superpower you wish you had: Invisibility
Pregame rituals: Do my left side first for everything (taping, socks, kneepad, shoes), put on my warm-up at the last minute, put my jacket on the third chair and pray with Jordan and Brooke
Best friend on the team: Jordan Wilberger
Best athlete you've competed against: Some of my own teammates, especially Jordan Larson
Why you chose Nebraska: The tradition, I grew up watching this team and there was nothing more that I wanted than to be a part of it.
Best thing about Nebraska: The standard we hold ourselves to. A university and program of excellence, honesty, hard work and love.
What you want to do after college: Go to school in Omaha for two more years to become a radiologist technician
