Lincoln- The United States women's volleyball team and former Husker All-American Jordan Larson completed pool play at the 2012 London Olympics with a 27-25, 25-16, 25-19 defeat over Turkey on Sunday evening.
Team USA, which had already sewn up the top seed in the pool regardless of the outcome with Turkey, concluded Pool B with 15 points and a 5-0 record. Ranked No. 1 in the world, the U.S. will face Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 1 p.m. CT. Dominican Republic finished Pool A with a 2-3 record and a fourth-place finish.
July 28- United States vs. South Korea
USA wins 25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-21
Larson helped carry much of the offensive weight for Team USA in their first Olympic match. She chipped in 16 points via 14 kills on 33 attacks, one block and one ace.
July 30- United States vs. Brazil
USA wins 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21
Larson contributed 18 points with 16 kills on 36 attacks and two blocks for Team USA.
On the match with Brazil...
"There were some ups and downs, but we played really well," Larson said. "We had a tough start, but we found our rhythm. Brazil is always battle, but we came strong for the win."
Aug. 1- United States vs. China
USA wins 26-24, 25-16, 31-29
Larson added two kills and two points as the United States took on China.
Aug. 3- United States vs. Serbia
USA wins 25-17, 25-20, 25-16
The United States clinched the top spot in Group B with a 3-0 win over Serbia at Earls Court in London. Larson notched five kills and six points for the United States, helping them to the win.
Aug. 5- United States vs. Turkey
USA wins 27-25, 25-16, 25-19
The United States finished strong to defeat Turkey and complete the Olympic Games Pool B undefeated at Earls Court on London. Larson pocketed nine points with eight kills and a block.
