Huskers Earn Four Titles at NWU Invite

Lincoln, Neb. - Prior to hosting the adidas Classic on Saturday, the Nebraska track and field team competed at the NWU Invitational, hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan, on Friday at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. With just a small group of athletes in competition, the Huskers came away with four event titles.

Veronica Grizzle won the women's weight throw with a winning mark of 57-2 ¼ (17.43), also a personal best. Tristen Sharp finished second in the event, recording a personal-best throw of 55-6 1/4 (16.92).

Patrick Raedler won the men's triple jump with a season-best leap of 49-8 ¼ (15.14), while Seth Wiedel finished second with a leap of 45-10 3/4 (13.99). In the men's high jump, Devandrew Johnson posted the top collegiate mark with a jump of 6-8 1/4 (2.04), tying his personal-best leap. Former Husker and volunteer assistant coach Dusty Jonas won the event with a mark of 7-4 1/2 (2.25).

Mila Andric won the women's 60 meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.70. Greta Kerekes finished second in the event with a time of 8.73. Janis Leitis took home the men's 60 meter dash crown with a time of 6.92, as Teddy Lampkin followed his lead, posting a time of 6.99 in the final round.

The Huskers will be back in action tomorrow at noon when they host Iowa, Air Force, Wichita State and Oral Roberts for the adidas Classic, which is a scored meet and will have a separate men's and women's team champion.
