A Message from Coach Cook

Dear Husker Fans,

As another season of Nebraska volleyball has drawn to a close, I would like to thank you for making this an unforgettable year for our program.

Our season ended with another run through the NCAA Tournament where we faced tough teams in the first and second rounds in Lincoln and later at the NCAA Omaha Regional at the CenturyLink Center. Along the way, we made some incredible memories in 2012.

The Huskers opened the season with a 3-2 victory over defending NCAA Champion UCLA at the Coliseum, while another win over top-25 Kentucky catapulted NU into Big Ten Conference play. Highlighted by a 3-2 win over Penn State on October 28, we finished the season second in the conference.

The 2012 season marked the end of an era for Nebraska Volleyball as we said goodbye to the Coliseum after over 35 years in the building. An unforgettable moment from the season came on October 26 when we honored our alumni. Over 60 former Huskers and former head coach Terry Pettit came back to the Coliseum to watch Nebraska take on Ohio State.

The Huskers also took home numerous awards during the season, as Lauren Cook was named first-team AVCA All-American, Gina Mancuso and Hannah Werth earned second-team AVCA All-America honors and Meghan Haggerty was chosen as an honorable mention selection. Mancuso also received CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades and was the recipient of the Senior CLASS award, given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I volleyball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - classroom, community, character and competition.

With our attention now turned to the 2013 season, we look forward to another year and starting new traditions as we move to the Devaney Center.

Thank you again for your continued support of Nebraska Volleyball through another terrific season and Go Big Red!

John Cook
