Huskers Compete at World University Games

Mara Griva opened the World University Games in Kazan, Russia on Sunday with an eighth-place finish in the long jump on a leap of 20-7 ¾ (6.29).

Griva finished 12th in the triple jump finals with a leap of 41-10 3/4 (12.77). She had advanced to the finals on Wednesday with a mark of 42-8 (13.00).

Jessica Furlan took to the track on Wednesday at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia. Furlan ran in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for Canada and finished fifth with a time of 9:51.23.

Tibor Koroknai competed in the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles on Tuesday. He posted a time of 50.61 to finish fourth in his heat, but did not advance to the finals.  He had previously recorded a time of 51.02 in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles.

Also competing on Wednesday at the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix in Budapest was  Nebraska volunteer coach Dusty Jonas. He finished second in the high jump with a leap of 7-5 3/4 (2.28).
