Huskers Sign Four Recruits

Lincoln, Neb. - University of Nebraska head coach Chuck Chmelka announced the addition of four all around recruits for the 2015 season. The team will welcome Josh Everitt, Daniel Leal, Alex Magsam and Andrew Zymball who look to add immediate impacts on a handful of events during their freshman campaigns. 

"We are excited to have these four guys become Huskers," head coach Chuck Chmelka said. "They will all add something to this team and become very important depth for us."  

Josh Everitt:
Tucson Arizona native, Josh Everitt is a level 10 gymnast who competes under head coaches Yoichi Tomita and Cory Morin at Gymnastics World Central. He will look to add vital depth to the ring lineup for the Huskers. Everitt placed third on rings at the 2013 JO National Championships. In 2012 at the Regional Championships in Reno, N.V., Everitt added two fifth place finishes on rings and floor.

"Josh will be our ring man," Chmelka said. "He is a really strong kid, and will easily become one of our main ring guys."

Floor/Pommell/Ring Skills 

Daniel Leal:
Daniel Leal is a Level 10 gymnast from Colombia but now lives in Dunellen, N.J. and trains at Indigo Gymnastics Center. At the 2013 Regionals Leal took home the all-around crown by placing first on pommel, rings, parallel bars, and high bar. He will look to break into all elements for the Huskers.

"Daniel is our top all-arounder, he is originally from Columbia but is training in New Jersey. He is a technically sound gymnast, strong, really elegant and clean. He will really help us out on all 6 events," said Chmelka.

Alex Magsam:
Alex Magsam joins NU from Scottsdale, Ariz., where he competes at North Valley Gymnastics under head coach Travis Rainer. A two-time JO National gymnast, Magsam placed fifth on vault at the 2012 National Championships. 

"Alex is pretty good in the all-around but is outstanding on rings and vault," said head coach Chuck Chmelka. "He will help us right off the start with those events."

Andrew Zymball:
Andrew Zymball rounds out the recruiting class coming from Omaha, Nebraska where he trains with Cahoy Gymnastics. Zymball is a member of their level 10 team and placed 12th in the all-around at the 2013 JO National event finals. Zymball hopes to make an instant impact on paralell bars for the Huskers. 

"Andrew is a pretty steady athlete on everything," Chelmka said. "He is one of the top gymnasts in the region. I would say his best event is parallel bars, in which you will see him compete in as a freshman."
