Huskers Host Jayhawks In Lincoln
The Huskers welcome Kansas on Friday, Jan. 31 at 4 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb. at the Nebraska Tennis Center. Nebraska sits at 1-2 overall after a challenging start to their season in non-conference play. After sweeping Creighton 7-0 and dropping two tough matches to Texas Tech and Georgia Tech, the Big Red are ready to face Assistant Coach German Dalmagro’s former team. Nebraska and Kansas have met 38 times in history with Kansas leading the series 23-15.
Huskers In The ITA National Rankings
Nebraska dropped to No. 36 in the ITA Top 75 after its two consecutive losses against Georgia Tech and Texas Tech. The rankings were released on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The Big Red are one of eight Big Ten teams in the ITA Top 75. Nebraska is joined by No. 11 Michigan, No. 16 Northwestern, No. 42 Illinois, No. 39 Indiana, No. 71 Ohio State, No. 50 Penn State, and No. 30 Purdue. The Huskers are the fourth-highest ranked Big Ten team behind No. 11 Michigan, No. 16 Northwestern and No. 30 Purdue. Michigan and Northwestern are the only two Big Ten teams inside the top 25.
Sophomore Maggy Lehmicke, who is 17-14 overall on 10-5 singles and 7-9 doubles is ranked at No. 63 in the ITA Top 125 Singles national rankings.
