Up Next for the Huskers
Following a 1-2 weekend at home against the UNLV Rebels, the Nebraska baseball team (15-12, 1-2 Big Ten) hits the road for a pair of midweek games against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Razorbacks will be looking to avenge a doubleheader sweep by the Huskers last season in Lincoln, including a combined no-hitter by Kyle Kubat, Tyler Niederklein and Dylan Vogt in game one of the twinbill.

This season’s two-game series kicks off on Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. and concludes on Wednesday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.

Freshman Jake Hohensee is scheduled to make his second career start for the Huskers on Tuesday evening. In nine total appearances this year, the Lincoln native is 0-2 with a 7.59 ERA. The 6-3 righty has produced eight strikeouts over his last 7.1 innings of work.

Junior Kyle Kubat is scheduled to get the ball for the Huskers on Wednesday afternoon and he will be making his third straight midweek start. The lefty is coming off his best start of the season, throwing 6.2 innings in a win at Wichita State last Tuesday.

Nebraska-Arkansas History
The Huskers hold a four-game lead (11-7) in 18 all-time games against the Razorbacks.

The series started in 1975 when the Huskers played a four-game series at Arkansas, dropping the series 1-3.

The first nine games of the series took place in Fayetteville, before the teams played a neutral site game in Arlington, Texas, during the 2000 season. Overall, 13 of the 18 games in the series have taken place in Fayetteville.

Last season the Huskers swept a doubleheader from the then No. 10 Razorbacks on April 16. In game one of the doubleheader Kyle Kubat, Tyler Niederklein and Dylan Vogt combined for a no-hitter.

Double Digits
The Huskers have produced double-digit hits 18 times this year in 27 games, including three of their last four roads games.

Bumpy Road
Life on the road hasn’t been good for the Huskers this season, as they enter Tuesday with a 3-5 record.

The squad is hitting .279, while opponents are hitting .313.

Overall on the year the Huskers have a 128-to-90 strikeout-to-walk ratio, but in eight road games the ratio is 42-to-22.

Lean on Hirsch
Zach Hirsch has been one of Nebraska’s best arms out of the bullpen in 2014.

The one-time starter has made a team-high 14 appearances, all out of the pen, in 2014 and holds a 1.37 ERA, while holding opposing batters to a .176 average over 19.2 innings of work.

Hirsch has 10 appearances where he has thrown at least an inning and hasn’t given up a run, and hasn’t give up a hit in four of those appearances.

The lefty hasn’t given up a run in his last 8.0 innings over five appearances, and has struck out 12 batters.

Hirsch’s 25 strikeouts tie Christian DeLeon for the team lead, but DeLeon has starter seven games and thrown a team-high 48.0 innings.

Boldt Breaks Out
Freshman Ryan Boldt has found his groove at Nebraska, as the Red Wing, Minn., native is hitting .348 on the season and .368 over his last 10 games.

Competing on the road hasn’t phased the youngster, as he leads the team with a .455 (10-for-22) average in road games. His 10 hits on the road are tied for second on the team behind Jake Placzek’s 11 hits.

Overall on the year, Boldt has 32 hits and 15 RBIs. He has 13 walks to 13 strikeouts, and is tied for the team lead in triples (3) and is tied for second on the team in doubles (7).

Prior to the start of the 2014 season, Boldt was named the No. 2 freshman in the country by Baseball America.

Join the Club
Senior Michael Pritchard joined Nebraska’s 200-hit club on Friday, March 21, with a first inning single at Iowa.

Pritchard became the 21st player in school history to join the club and enters Tuesday tied with Francis Collins (1995-97) for 20th in school history with 201 hits.

Junior Pat Kelly has a shot at joining the list as well this season, as he enters Tuesday with 174 career hits. Last season Kelly totaled a team-high 85 hits on the year, and with 38 hits this season Kelly is on pace to join the list by the end of 2014.

Last season, Chad Christensen became the 20th player in Nebraska history to join the 200-hit club with his walk-off single in the bottom of the 16th inning against Northwestern on Friday, March 29.

Prior to Christensen, Jake Opitz was the last Husker to join the club, as he ended his four-year career in 2008 with 227 career hits.

Matt Hopper holds the school record with 338 career hits and is one of just two players in school history to have topped 300 hits. Jeff Leise sits second on the career charts with 305 career hits.

Need for Speed
Nebraska has produced 15 triples on the year through 27 games entering Tuesday, which tops their 13 triples in 59 games last season.

The 15 triples are the most by a Husker squad since 2009 and 2005 when NU totaled 15 triples. The last time the Huskers produced 20 triples in a season was 2002.

Seven Huskers have a triple on the season, including three each from Ryan Boldt, Austin Darby and Michael Pritchard. Blake Headley has two triples, while Pat Kelly, Tanner Lubach, Austin Christensen and Quinn McGill each have one.

The single-season team record for triples is 38 by the 1980 squad, while Shawn Buchanan set the individual single-season record in 1990 with nine.

He Can Hit
Opposing pitchers don’t want to see junior Pat Kelly after he has an 0-for-3 or worse game.

Kelly was 0-for-3 in the season opener against Pacific and responded by going a career-best 5-for-5 against No. 2 Oregon State the next afternoon.

In 131 career games, Kelly has gone 0-for-3 or worse 23 times. Only three times following those has he not produced at least one hit in the following game. Following three 0-for-games he has rallied with at least four hits.

Through 27 games this season, Kelly leads the team in both hits (38) and RBIs (23).

Last season, Kelly led the team in hits with 85, while ranking third in batting average (.331), RBIs (33) and doubles (12). The Red Wing, Minn., native tied former first-team All-American John Cole (2001) for sixth in the single-season record book with 70 singles on the year.

Kelly is one of just six players in program history to produce 70 of more singles in a single season, while school-record holder Francis Collins (86 in 1997; 79 in 1996) achieved the feat twice.
