Green Qualifies for University World Championships

For the second consecutive year, Husker wrestler James Green advanced to the University World Championships after winning a pair of matches at the University Nationals in Akron, Ohio on Sunday, May 25.

Wrestling in freestyle at 70 kg/154 pounds, Green defeated past All-American Adam Hall two matches to zero. Green’s victories came by scores of 4-1 and 4-2. Both grapplers represented Titan Mercury Wrestling Club.

Green advances to the University World Championships, July 8-12 in Pecs, Hungary. Last summer, Green went 1-1 in Kazan, Russia while representing the United States in the competition.

Green, a Willingboro, N.J., native, will return to Nebraska’s lineup as a senior in 2014-15. He is a three-time All-American and the reigning Big Ten champion at 157 pounds. Green placed third at the 2014 NCAA Championships after taking seventh during both his sophomore and freshman seasons.
