Three Former Huskers On Preliminary USA Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Three former Huskers were named to the preliminary roster for the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team ahead of the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship Italy 2014 later this month.

Team USA Head Coach Karch Kiraly and his staff selected 22 players for the preliminary roster, including former Huskers Kelsey Robinson, Jordan Larson-Burbach and Kayla Banwarth. The roster will be trimmed to 14 players who will travel to Italy with 12 players able to be suited for each match.

Earlier this summer Robinson, Larson-Burbach and Banwarth represented the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team at the USA Volleyball Cup and the FIVB World Grand Prix.

Training for the World Championship started last Monday at the American Sports Centers in Anaheim, Calif. The 2014 World Championship, held every four years, is a 24-team event that takes place in various cities across Italy from Sept. 23 to Oct. 12.
