Zitsch, Boyer Reach Quarterfinals

Minneapolis, Minn.- The Nebraska men's tennis team fought through the first round of doubles play where due Bradford Zitsch and Dusty Boyer emerged victorious and headed into the quarterfinals. 

Bradford Zitsch and Dusty Boyer were first round winners where they defeated Michigan State's Brett Forman and Gijs Linders 8-4 and pushed them into quarterfinal play. They then took on Matt Hagan and Dominic Patrick of Iowa and fell 4-8. This loss pushed them into a consolation bracket where they first played Felix Corwin and Eric Frueh of Minnesota and were again defeated 2-8. They then took on Matt Mendez and Riley Reist from Ohio State and were victorious, winning 8-5 and finishing the tournament with a 2-2 record. 

Scott Elsass and Linus Erhart finished doubles play with an overall record of 3-1. They began the day in defeat against Wisconsin's Alexander Kokorev and Lamar Remy going 6-8. The next three matches were successful for the duo where they then played Jake Jacoby and Josh Silverstein of Iowa going 8-4. Follwing, Elsass and Erhart swept Alex Pasareanu and Alberto Zanotti of Northwestern winning 8-0 and then defeating Brett Forman and Gijs Linders of Michigan State 8-5. 

Marc Herrmann and Chris Hobgarski began with a defeat in the first round, 4-8 to Minnesota's Felix Corwin and Eric Frueh. The team then won against Purdue's Lucas Dages and Mateus Silva in a close match 8-7. The men then saw defeat again against Michigan State's Brett Forman and Gijs Linders 2-8. This loss put them in another bracket where they played Alex Pasareanu and Alberto Zanotti of Northwestern and ended the day with a win going 8-4. They finished tournament play 2-2. 

Court Clark and and Vasilis Stavropolous played in an opening round of eight teams and began the day with loss to Alex Kim and Doug Zade of Michigan State where they went 0-8. The men then played Josef Dodridge and Jakhongir of Wisconsin where they lost in a battle going 6-8. This loss put them in another bracket where they played Wisconsin's Darius Mackenzie and Michael Sinha where they ended the day with a win going 8-7 and finishing the day with a record of 1-2.

Chris Schindler and Charlie Shin participated in three matches, begininng with a loss against Michigan State's Michael Dube and Mac Roy 3-8 follwed by a loss to Andres Estenssoro and Nils Hallestrand of Iowa 2-8. In their final match, the men played Alex Kim and Doug Zade of Michigan State resluting in a tough loss going 6-8. Schindler and Shin ended their doubles play going 0-3. 

Singles play will begin tomorrow and will be played best two of three sets. Back draw singles will be best of two of three sets with a super tiebreaker in lieu of a third set. Scores will be updated at the end of play tomorrow, Go Huskers!
