• The No. 15 Nebraska sand volleyball team finishes its season with five dual matches in Arizona this week. NU will take on Arizona State, Grand Canyon, Cal State Northridge, Boise State and Arizona in a four-day span in Arizona, beginning Wednesday, March 25.
• The Huskers face ASU at 8 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday in Tempe and No. 19 Grand Canyon on Thursday at 8 p.m. (CT) in Phoenix. NU then travels to Tucson to play Cal State Northridge at 2 p.m. (CT) and Boise State at 6 p.m. (CT) on Friday. The Huskers conclude their 11-day trip against No. 11 Arizona on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT).
• The Huskers were 3-0 on an Arizona trip last spring with wins over Arizona State, No. 18 Grand Canyon and No. 14 Arizona, all by 3-2 scores.
• The Huskers are coming off a 1-2 dual record in Hawaii. NU swept Cal, 5-0, and lost to No. 3 USC, 0-5, and No. 1 Hawaii, 2-3. After the Huskers were swept by the Trojans on Thursday, NU showed great improvement by the end of the weekend, as the Huskers’ No. 1 pair of Justine Wong-Orantes and Alicia Ostrander captured the Queen of the Beach Silver Bracket title on Saturday. Then on Sunday, NU easily dispatched of Cal before nearly upsetting the nation’s No. 1 ranked team. The Huskers, in just their third year of a sand volleyball program, had Hawaii (6-1) on the ropes after taking a 2-1 lead with two chances to clinch the win. But Hawaii battled back with wins at Nos. 2 and 1 to escape the Huskers’ upset attempt. Wong-Orantes and Ostrander went 5-3 on the trip, while Kelly Hunter and Kadie Rolfzen were 4-2 and the only Husker pair to reach the Queen of the Beach Gold Bracket after a perfect pool play record.
