#LosHuskers Win 79-64 Over Eurocolegio Casvi

Madrid, Spain – Tai Webster scored nine of his team-high 17 points in a 12-0 run to open the third quarter, as Nebraska began its four-game exhibition trip through Spain with a 79-64 win over Eurocolegio Casvi Sunday evening.

Webster, a 6-foot-4 junior guard hit 8-of-12 shots from the field to pace five Huskers in double figures in the victory. Webster had 13 points in the third quarter, as Nebraska used a 28-7 advantage in the quarter to break open a 35-all deadlock at the break.

The Huskers shot 48 percent from the field, including 52 percent in the second half, as the Huskers build a 22-point fourth-quarter lead and cruised to the a 15-point win.

Freshman forward Edward Morrow Jr. tied Webster for team-high honors with 17 points and added five rebounds off the bench, as Nebraska’s newcomers accounted for 41 of the Huskers’ 79 points. Andrew White III and Jack McVeigh chipped in 10 points apiece, while senior Shavon Shields had 12 points, a team-high 12 rebounds and three assists for the winners.

Morrow and McVeigh keyed a late first-quarter run, accounting for 12 of NU’s 14 points in a 14-1 run that gave the Huskers a 12-point lead, at 25-13, at the end of the first quarter.

Nebraska led 29-22 midway through the second stanza after a White bucket, but a flurry of 3-pointers by Eurocolegio Casvi pulled the hosts even at the break.  Eurocolegio Casvi hit 8 3-pointers in the opening half, but hit just two three-pointers in the final 20 minutes of action.

The Huskers will wrap up their stay in Madrid on Monday and leave Tuesday for Albacete, where they will play Albacete Basket, a pro team from the region, Tuesday at 10 a.m. (central).
