Last Time Out: Huskers Drop 2-0 Decision to No. 11 BYU
Lincoln, Neb.—The Nebraska soccer team (2-1-0) suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a 2-0 decision to No. 11 BYU at Hibner Stadium on Monday night.
Though the Huskers fought hard with 10 shots, BYU put forth a tough attacking offense to maintain the momentum throughout the game.
Nebraska opened up the first half with heart, fighting for the possession of the ball throughout. The Cougars’ first goal came at the 15-minute mark, as junior Ashley Hatch took advantage of a cross from teammate Nadia Gomes to find the back of the net from 15 yards out.
Despite a quartet of corner kick opportunities, NU couldn’t capitalize to tie it up. BYU led the Huskers 1-0 heading into halftime.
Nebraska entered the second half hoping for a change of pace, but struggled to maintain possession. BYU found another hole in NU’s defense in the 75th minute, as redshirt freshman Michele Murphy Vasconcelos beat a pair of Husker defenders for a clear unassisted shot into the net, overtaking the Huskers 2-0 to end the game.
Sophomore Erika Johnson recorded five saves on her third career start, playing in 82 minutes.

Odermann Earns Spot on Primetime Weekly Honor Roll
The Nebraska soccer team’s Jaylyn Odermann captured a spot on CollegeSoccer360.com’s (CS360) Primetime Performers Honor Roll for Division I, announced by the site for the week of Aug. 24.
Odermann claimed her place on the performance list after a stellar 2015 season debut victory versus then-No. 23 Kansas at home on Aug. 21.
