Huskers Finish Road Stretch at Maryland

The No. 8 Nebraska volleyball team finishes its four-match road stretch at Maryland on Saturday in a 6 p.m. (CT) match that will be streamed online with a BTN Plus subscription.

Nebraska (21-4, 12-3 Big Ten) has won five straight matches, including a thrilling 3-2 win at Michigan State on Wednesday. The Huskers rallied from 2-1 down to win the final two sets, including coming back from 4-1 down in set five. Last week, the Huskers swept No. 16 Purdue and Indiana on the road, building on sweeps of Rutgers and Maryland at home on Oct. 30 and 31. Last season, Nebraska started an eight-match win streak on Halloween weekend, also sweeping Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue and Indiana. Nebraska is still third in the Big Ten standings, one match behind Penn State and two behind Minnesota.

Maryland (13-16, 3-12 Big Ten) is tied for 11th in the Big Ten standings. The Terrapins have shown improvement of late, as all three of their conference wins have come in the past six matches. Their three losses in that stretch came to ranked teams, and they took a set off of both Penn State and Purdue at home. Maryland’s best win of the season came on Nov. 6, a 3-0 sweep of No. 12 Ohio State at the XFINITY Center Pavillion. It was Maryland’s first win over a ranked opponent since 2010.

Series History: Nebraska is 6-0 all-time against Maryland. The Huskers posted a 25-9, 25-11, 25-12 sweep over the Terrapins on Halloween in one of their most complete performances of the season.

• Senior middle blocker Cecilia Hall is putting up 1.70 kills per set and 1.00 blocks per set on the season.
• Sophomore Annika Albrecht is tied for the Big Ten lead with 31 service aces. She served six aces in a three-set win over Rutgers on Oct. 30, one shy of the school record for aces in a match.

SCOUTING MARYLAND
Adreene Elliott leads the team with 3.49 kills per set. Liz Twilley adds 2.89 kills per set. Amy Dion leads the team in digs (3.38 per set), while Ashlyn MacGregor is the top blocker (0.94 per set). The Terrapins are hitting .200 for the season and allowing opponents to hit .243. Maryland averages 1.42 aces per set, which leads the Big Ten.
