Huskers Return to Lincoln to Celebrate Title

Lincoln, Neb. - The national champion Nebraska volleyball returned to Lincoln and was welcomed back with a celebration on Sunday afternoon at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers, who swept Texas on Saturday night for the program's fourth NCAA National Championship, arrived from Omaha on a bus and were greeted by more than a thousand Husker fans.

Head Coach John Cook and captains Alicia Ostrander and Kelly Hunter spoke about the team's journey to the national title. Husker fans threw up their arms in the "O" shape before Ostrander started speaking.

A 2015 National Champion banner was unveiled, and Ostrander and Cecilia Hall were presented with degrees in a surprise ceremony with Athletics Director Shawn Eichorst, University of Nebraska President Hank M. Bounds and Chancellor Harvey Perlman on hand to administer the degrees to the pair who graduated on Saturday but were unable to be at the ceremony for obvious reasons.

Nebraska finished the season 32-4 and won its first NCAA title since 2006, which also came in Omaha.
