No Springing Forward in Tempe |
There has been a time change for Sunday's game with Georgetown, which will start at 11 a.m. (Central). It wasn't so much of a time change as a quirk involving daylight savings time. Sunday's game was always scheduled to start at 9 a.m. in Tempe, which is in the Mountain Time Zone. However, Arizona does not observe daylight savings time. So while there is only a one-hour time difference between Tempe and Lincoln on Friday and Saturday, there is a two-hour time difference on Sunday when folks in Nebraska move their clocks ahead one hour, while Arizonans do not adjust their clocks. So if you're going to Sunday's game, it starts at 9 a.m. local time, but if you're tuning into the game on Huskers.com, first pitch will be at 11 a.m. (Central).
High-Five for Husker Fans |
A big high-five for all Husker fans who attended Nebraska's home-opening weekend at Bowlin Stadium. The Huskers drew more than 2,000 fans for the two-day, three-game series with Wichita State. Attendance for Saturday's doubleheader was 1,308, the largest crowd ever for a home opener and just outside of the top-10 all-time crowds in the 15-year history of Bowlin Stadium. Nebraska is aiming to average 1,000 fans per game for the first time ever this season and if opening weekend is any indication, Husker fans appear to be up to the challenge!
SO AWESOME!!

Reunion in the Desert |
When Nebraska faces Ohio State on Saturday, the Huskers will see a familiar face in the opposing dugout. Amanda Buchholz, a former Husker shortstop and volunteer coach, is in her fourth season as an assistant coach for the Buckeyes. There are many former Huskers coaching collegiately around the country, beginning with Nebraska Head Coach Rhonda Revelle and Husker Associate Head Coach Lori Sippel. It's nearly impossible to compile a complete listing of all former Husker players coaching in 2016, but below are a list of some former Huskers coaching collegiately this spring.
