Huskers Wrap Up Hawaii Stay Against Rainbow Wahine

The 15th-ranked Nebraska beach volleyball team finished its stay in Hawaii with a 4-1 loss to the fifth-ranked Rainbow Wahine late Sunday night at the Ching Complex in Honolulu.

The Huskers (2-3) got a victory in the match at the No. 4 spot, as Briana Holman and Kenzie Maloney teamed up for a 21-12, 23-21 victory over Hawaii's Mikayla Tucker and Ginger Long. 

The other pairs went to Hawaii (4-5). Hannah Rooks and Ka'iwi Shucht edged NU's No. 3 pair, Annika Albrecht and Olivia Boender, 21-15, 17-21, 15-12. 

Mikaela Foecke and Sydney Townsend teamed up for the first time on the trip, as the duo took on Hannah Zalapany and Aris Homayun in the No. 5 slot. Hawaii's tandem claimed a 21-10, 21-12 victory.

At No. 2, Justine Wong-Orantes and Amber Rolfzen dropped a 21-15, 21-17 match to Katie Speiler and Emily Maglio.

In the nightcap, Kadie Rolfzen and Kelly Hunter got off to a quick start with a 21-9 first-set win over Nikki Taylor and Lara Schreiber. But Hawaii's duo fought back to win the final two sets, 21-18 and 15-13.

The No. 6 exhibition match earlier in the day went to Hawaii's Hi'lawe Huddleston and Giana Guinnaso, as they defeated Brooke Smith and Tiani Reeves, 22-20, 21-12. 

Nebraska heads back to the mainland on Monday as they get set to take on Irvine Valley College and Concordia (Calif.) on Wednesday in Huntington Beach, Calif. The Huskers will play five matches in California in a span of three days to finish out their beach season.
