Lincoln, Neb. – Nebraska Men’s Golf Head Coach Bill Spangler is proud to announce that Judd Cornell has been named associate head coach, effective immediately.
“Judd has proven to be an excellent assistant coach for our program,” Spangler said. “In three short years, he has established himself as one of the best recruiters in the country. In addition, Judd is a terrific instructor and teacher, and has a knack for coaching and relating to today’s student-athlete that is second to none. Husker golf is in great hands with Judd as our Associate Head Coach.”

With hard work from the players and coaches, along with the support from the Nebraska Athletic Department, fans and golf alums, I believe that anything is possible here. That, along with the athletic department, gives the players and coaches a phenomenal experience and extra determination to succeed and win. I feel lucky to work with the current players and recent graduates from our golf program. They’ve done a really good job in the classroom and worked extremely hard to improve. They represent the University of Nebraska in a first-class manner, and are willing to do what it takes to win and follow the footsteps of the great players and teams from the past. Winning is really important to us now and moving forward."
Cornell, an Omaha, Neb., native, joined the Husker staff in 2013 as an assistant coach, and has helped the team to 19 top-10 tournament finishes in three years. Cornell's experience and extensive time with many of the top instructors throughout the United States has played a huge role in the preparation and development on and off the course for the Husker golfers.
Cornell assists with team practice, recruiting, scheduling, budget planning and skill building both professionally and athletically. He has extensive recruiting contacts throughout the state and country, and has expanded the base of opportunity to discover talent. Cornell has nurtured and developed the current roster through tournament preparation, practice, technique and psychology.
Cornell spent five years playing professionally on various mini tours in the United States, as well as the Web.com Tour and overseas events.
Cornell graduated from Nebraska in 2007 after playing for the Huskers’ nationally ranked team that included current Web.com Tour player Brady Schnell, 2013 PGA Tour Latino America winner Ty Capps, current professional Ryan Lenahan and Drew Reynolds. Cornell earned first-team academic All-Big 12 recognition, and is also a former Nebraska Amateur Player of the Year and Nebraska Junior Amateur Player of the Year.
