RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - The U.S. Women's Volleyball Team advanced to the semifinals of the Olympics with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 sweep of Japan on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
The No. 1-ranked and top-seeded Americans will face Serbia on Thursday at 11 a.m. (CT) on NBC and streamed online.
In Tuesday's quarterfinal, Jordan Larson had 12 kills, seven digs and two aces along with 10 excellent receptions. Libero Kayla Banwarth had seven digs and six excellent receptions, and Kelsey Robinson had two excellent receptions.
Should the U.S. defeat the Russia-Serbia winner on Thursday, there will be an Olympic final watch party on Saturday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center following the Red-White Scrimmage. The Red-White Scrimmage begins at 6 p.m., while the Olympic final is set for 8:15 p.m. (CT).
