The U.S. Women’s National Team won the Olympic bronze medal with a 25-23, 25-27, 25-22, 25-19 victory over Netherlands on Saturday at Maracanazinho arena.
It is the second Olympic bronze medal for the U.S. Women’s National Team program. The first came in 1992. The team won Olympic silver medals in 1984, 2008 and 2012. The U.S. finishes the tournament with a 7-1 record.
Former Huskers Kayla Banwarth, Jordan Larson and Kelsey Robinson played big roles for Team USA throughout the tournament. In the bronze medal match, Larson had 13 kills and two blocks and four digs, Banwarth had five digs and Robinson had one.
