Huskers Set for Strong Big Ten Home Schedule

The Nebraska women’s basketball team will play a 16-game Big Ten Conference schedule that includes all eight home games against 2016 postseason qualifiers at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers learned the dates of their Big Ten home battles when the conference officially announced the schedule on Monday afternoon. No game times or television information were announced for any conference games. Those designations will come from the Big Ten at a later date.

Season tickets for Nebraska women’s basketball are available now at Huskers.com. Reserved season tickets at Pinnacle Bank Arena for NU’s 16 regular-season home games and one exhibition game are just $170.

Nebraska, which will open the Amy Williams coaching era with an exhibition game against Southwest Baptist on Sunday, Nov. 6, will play an eight-game regular-season home non-conference schedule that starts with three games in the 2016 Preseason WNIT and culminates with a clash against defending NCAA Champion UConn at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Season ticket holders will have the first pick of reserved seats to watch Coach Geno Auriemma and the Huskies, who have won four straight NCAA titles, face the Huskers.

One week after colliding with UConn at Pinnacle Bank Arena, the Huskers open Big Ten Conference play at home against Northwestern on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The tip with the Wildcats, who battled Nebraska in the final regular-season home game of 2015-16 on Feb. 28, will open a new 16-game conference schedule for the Huskers. Nebraska played an 18-game Big Ten schedule in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

The Huskers will spend the final day of 2016 in Iowa City when they tangle with Iowa on New Year’s Eve at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Nebraska welcomes perennial NCAA Women’s Final Four contender Maryland to Pinnacle Bank Arena to open 2017, when the Huskers take on the Terrapins on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Following a trip to East Lansing to meet Michigan State on Saturday, Jan. 7, the Huskers return home to collide with Rutgers on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

After battling the Scarlet Knights, the Big Red will face a difficult January stretch in which they play four of five games on the road, starting with a meeting at Illinois on Sunday, Jan. 15. The Huskers stay on the road to face Penn State on Jan. 19, before welcoming Michigan to Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Nebraska is back on the road for a pair of games to close January at Purdue (Jan. 26) and Ohio State (Jan. 29). The Huskers will then enjoy their first Big Ten mid-week bye in three seasons, before going head-to-head with the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Lincoln on Saturday, Feb. 4.

After a mid-week road trip to Wisconsin on Thursday, Feb. 9, and a weekend bye, the Huskers will close the regular season by playing three of their final four games at home. That closing stretch begins against Ohio State at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Thursday, Feb. 16, before the Huskers collide with Indiana in Lincoln on Sunday, Feb. 19.

Nebraska will play its final regular-season road game of the year at Michigan on Thursday, Feb. 23, before celebrating Senior Day for Michigan native Allie Havers and Esther Ramacieri against Michigan State on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The Huskers return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the Big Ten Tournament, March 1-5. Nebraska won the Big Ten Tournament title at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in 2014. The Huskers are 8-3 all-time in four appearances at the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis.
