Lincoln - The Nebraska women's basketball team continues preparation for the 2016-17 season by participating in Big Ten Women's Basketball Media Week, Oct. 24-28.
The Huskers, who have made five NCAA Tournament appearances since 2010, are coming off an 18-13 campaign that resulted in a trip to the Postseason WNIT. It marked Nebraska's fifth consecutive postseason tournament trip.
First-year Nebraska Coach Amy Williams will lead the Huskers in 2016-17. The former Husker led South Dakota to the WNIT title a year ago after guiding the Coyotes to the Summit League regular-season championship. She led USD to 32 victories in 2015-16 and was a two-time Summit League Coach of the Year in her four seasons in Vermillion.
Big Ten Women's Basketball Media Week will tip off Monday with the announcement of the preseason All-Big Ten teams. Husker sophomore Jessica Shepard is a strong contender for preseason accolades after earning first-team All-Big Ten honors as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2015-16.
Huskers.com will provide additional content on Husker players on Tuesday and Thursday around Nebraska's featured day during Media Week on Wednesday. Coach Williams and Shepard will be featured in BTN video segments on Wednesday.
Thursday, Oct. 27 will give fans a chance to interact with the Huskers in person at "Boo at the Bob." The family-friendly trick-or-treating event will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center with student-athletes from nearly all of Nebraska's varsity sports in attendance, including the women's basketball program.
Coach Williams will participate in the Big Ten Women's Basketball Coaches Teleconference on Friday. The media teleconference will feature all 14 Big Ten coaches and a playback will be available for fans on Friday afternoon. Huskers.com will provide additional content on Nebraska players on Friday as well.
