Nebraska volleyball players Kelly Hunter and Amber Rolfzen were honored with Big Ten weekly awards on Monday, the conference office announced.
Hunter was named the setter of the week for the fourth time this season and the sixth time in her Husker career. Amber Rolfzen was honored as co-defensive player of the week for the second time this season and fifth time in her career.
The duo led the Huskers to a thrilling 3-2 win at No. 11 Penn State on Friday and a swift sweep of Rutgers on Saturday. Hunter had 61 assists, eight digs and five blocks at Penn State, and followed with 33 assists at Rutgers to lead the Big Red to a .395 hitting percentage. For the week, she averaged 11.75 assists per set.
Rolfzen shared defensive honors with Michigan State's Alyssa Garvelink. Rolfzen tied her season highs with 16 kills and nine blocks in the win at Penn State while hitting .615 with no errors on 26 attacks. She had four kills and eight blocks at Rutgers, finishing the week with an average of 2.12 blocks per set and 2.50 kills per set with a .474 hitting percentage.
