Rolfzen Named First-Team Academic All-American

Nebraska volleyball senior outside hitter Kadie Rolfzen was named a first-team Academic All-American on Thursday by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She is Nebraska volleyball's 38th CoSIDA Academic All-America selection and 21st first-team honoree. Rolfzen earns the University of Nebraska its nation-leading 327th all-time Academic All-America honor. She is the first Husker volleyball player to receive the distinction since Gina Mancuso in 2012.

Rolfzen, a Papillion, Nebraska native, carries a 3.715 cumulative GPA and is a five-time academic All-Big Ten selection counting beach volleyball awards. In 2015-16, she posted a perfect 4.0 GPA while earning first-team AVCA All-America honors on the court after she led the Huskers to the NCAA title. Rolfzen is a three-time All-American and is one of two players (Jordan Larson) in Nebraska history to rank in the top seven in both career kills and digs. After her fourth straight AVCA All-North Region honor earlier this week, Rolfzen is aiming to join Sarah Pavan (2004-07) as the only Huskers to receive four first-team All-America honors in their careers at Nebraska.

In her Husker career, Rolfzen has been a shining success both on and off the court, which helped her become a finalist for the NCAA Senior CLASS Award this season. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has served as a motivational speaker and at FCA events. She received Nebraska’s Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award in 2014 for exceptional leadership, dedicated community service and positive influence on the team. As an advertising/public relations major with an emphasis in graphic design, she has even designed t-shirts that the team wears for practice.

In the community, Rolfzen was a recipient of the Life Skills of Excellence Team Award in 2015-16 and is a two-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her commitment to community service. Rolfzen has participated in numerous outreach activities, including the Peoples City Mission, American Red Cross fundraiser, Tabitha Greenhouse, Souper Bowl of Caring, Legacy Retirement Center, Kids Against Hunger and Avery Strong Bone Marrow Drive. She has also been a keynote speaker at the Life Skills Sportsmanship Pep Rally.
