Lincoln - The Nebraska women's basketball program will tip off its 2017-18 preseason by participating in Big Ten Women's Basketball Media Week, Oct. 23-30.
The Big Ten Conference collaborates with all 14 women's basketball teams in the league and the Big Ten Network to provide fans with preseason coverage so big that a single week cannot contain it. Every team will be featured every day across all traditional and social media platforms.
Preseason coverage begins on Monday, Oct. 23, at 11:30 a.m. (CT) with the release of the top Big Ten teams in the preseason, the preseason all-conference teams and the preseason Big Ten Player of the Year, as selected by conference media and coaches. The announcement of the conference's preseason honors will be made on Twitter @B1GWBBall.
The @B1GWBBall feed will also feature the season schedules of all 14 Big Ten women's basketball teams on Monday. The conference's home page at BigTen.org also will feature the preseason honor teams on Monday. The league's Facebook (/Big Ten Conference), Snapchat (BigTenConf) and Instagram (@BigTen) pages will serve as home to Media Week content, as will the individual social media channels of the Big Ten schools.
The Big Ten Network helps Media Week shift into high gear Tuesday by featuring interviews with all 14 Big Ten women's basketball coaches, including Nebraska's second-year head coach Amy Williams. The interviews will be posted across the conference's social media channels beginning at 11 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday, starting with Illinois. Coach Williams' interview is expected to hit social media at 12:45 p.m. (CT) on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Oct. 25, the Big Ten will showcase student profiles from each conference school, including Nebraska senior Emily Wood. The 5-5 guard from Salina, Kansas, earned her bachelor's degree in management from Nebraska in just three years and is pursuing a master's degree in business administration while playing her senior season. Originally a walk, Wood is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and was Nebraska's overall Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner across all of its women's sports in 2016-17.
The Big Ten Network continues to provide exclusive content to Media Week on Thursday, Oct. 26, with player interviews from all 14 teams, including Nebraska sophomore Hannah Whitish. The 5-9 guard from Barneveld, Wisconsin set the Nebraska freshman three-point percentage record last season while starting every Big Ten Conference game. Whitish has worked to produce an outstanding offseason and is ready to take on a leadership role for a young Husker team in 2017-18.
The student-athlete interviews will follow the same schedule as the coaches, beginning with Illinois on Thursday at 11 a.m. (CT). Whitish's interview should hit social media channels at 12:45 p.m. (CT).
