The Nebraska bowling team has been voted second in the National Tenpin Coaches Association 2017-18 Preseason Poll, released Thursday.
The Cornhuskers received one first-place vote, coming in behind the defending NCAA champions McKendree. The Bearcats received 35 of the 36 votes to take the No.1 place. Arkansas State ranked third in the poll, while Vanderbilt and Sam Houston State rounded out the top five.
The
Huskers return seven bowlers from last year's squad which finished second at the NCAA Championships, including three All-Americans in seniors Julia Bond and Kelly Belzeski and junior Meghan Straub.
This is the fifth year in a row that NU has been ranked in the top two in the preseason NTCA poll.
Nebraska begins its season Oct. 27-29 at the Bearcat Open in St. Louis, Mo., hosted by defending national champion McKendree.
