Huskers Add Six to 2018-19 Roster

Lincoln - Nebraska swimming and diving coach Pablo Morales recently announced the signing of Taylor Acheson, Audrey Coffey, Olivia Keith, Katelyn Kilpatrick, Sara Troyer and Jessica Warak for the 2018-19 season.

"We are very happy to welcome our 2018 early signees to the Husker family," said head coach Pablo Morales. "The addition of divers Jess and Sara will insure that diving will continue to be a strength of our program. The group of four coming in on the swimming side will add much to a program that prides itself on excellence in the classroom and the pool. They, along with our incoming divers, all bring wonderful ability and an outstanding work ethic that will fit in very well with our girls. They have accomplished much already, but will absolutely flourish here. We can’t wait for them to get on campus."

Acheson will come to Nebraska after competing for the Kansas City Blazers in Kansas. Acheson competed in the 2017 IA IFLY Speedo Midwest Championship in Iowa swimming the 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyles, as well as the 200-yard butterfly, 200- and 400-yard IM. Acheson solidified four top-eight finishes in Iowa.

Coffey comes to Nebraska from Naperville, Illinois where she is a member of the Academy Bullets Swim Club. At the 2017 Illinois Girls Sectionals, Coffey reeled in a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Coffey is the DVC champion in the 100 fly and placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke. Coffey is also a 2017 MR Speedo Junior National Championship qualifier in the 1,500-meter long course freestyle, 100-meter long course backstroke, 400-meter long course freestyle and the 200-meter long course butterfly.

Keith joins the Huskers after competing for the Razorback Aquatic Club Aquadawgs and Fayetteville High School in Arkansas. The 2017 NCSA Summer Championship qualifier finished fourth in the 100-meter long course butterfly. Keith competed in the 2017 Speedo Champions Series in Lincoln, Nebraska competing in multiple events.

Kilpatrick joins the Big Red after swimming for Vanguard High School in Florida and the Central Florida Marlins. At the 2017 FHSAA 3A State Championship, Kilpatrick notched a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and a 10th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. She is a 2017 FHSAA 3A Regional qualifier in the 50, 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyles.

Nebraska also adds on two divers to the 2018-19 season.

“I am very excited to add two talented divers to the Husker Swimming and Diving family,” Nebraska’s diving coach Natasha Chikina said. “Both Jessica and Sara are outstanding individuals with incredible work ethic and determination, capable of positively impacting our team’s culture. Additionally, with their national-level experience, both divers show the potential to immediately contribute to our team’s success. This combination of characteristics will help our program move forward and continue to improve in the Big Ten and nationally.”

Troyer will come to Nebraska after competing for Northridge High School in Indiana. She claimed a third place finish in the one-meter dive at the 2017 Indiana Girls State Championship. Troyer saw national exposure at the 2017 USA Diving National Diving Championships competing in both the one- and three-meter dives.

The lone in-state signee in the Husker class, Warak competed for Heartland Bellevue West High School. Warak claimed her second straight state title at the 2017 Nebraska State Championship title in the one-meter dive. Warak earned a fourth-place spot on The World-Herald’s all-time Top 10 by defeating her 2016 state score.
