Tristen Edwards is 6-for-6 against CSUN this year, including today's game when she went 3-for-3.

Fullerton, Calif. - The Nebraska softball team (18-8) snapped a seven-game winning streak after falling to Cal State Northridge (11-20) by a score of 10-5 in its second game of the day on Friday afternoon.

Nebraska fell behind early, but took the lead in the second after two-run homers by Otte and Edwards. After giving up the lead again in the fourth, Nebraska was never able to catch up. The Huskers missed some key opportunities, leaving 11 runners on base and going 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Ferrell dropped to 6-2 on the year. She pitched 4.1 innings, giving up 10 hits - including two homers - and seven runs. She also had one walk and two strikeouts. Regan Mergele also pitched 1.2 innings, giving up four hits on two runs. Sydney McLeod pitched one inning as well. She gave up one run on one hit and also had a strikeout.

Taylor Troost improved to 4-7 on the year. She pitched 5.1 innings and gave up just one run on seven hits. She also had five strikeouts.

The Matadors took a 3-0 lead in the first after a double, a single and a two-run homer.

The Huskers responded in the bottom of the second, scoring four runs thanks to a pair of homers. Barrow drew a walk and two batters later, Otte smacked a homer to left field to cut the lead to 3-2.  A two-out single from Simmons, followed by a home run from Edwards gave the Huskers a 4-3 lead.

In the third, NU got two runners on with one out after Riley singled up the middle and Barrow was hit by a pitch. Metzler reached on an error by the second baseman to load the bases, but back-to-back strikeouts left three Huskers stranded.

CSUN tied things up in the fourth after a leadoff double, a sacrifice bunt and a single scored one run. Another single and a walk loaded the bases with two outs for the Matadors. Another run scored on a wild pitch, giving CSUN a 5-4 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, a leadoff double from Simmons followed by a walk put two runners on with no outs. Jablonski reached on a fielder's choice but the runner at second was out. Another fielder's choice got the lead runner out at home and a groundout ended the inning.

A two-run homer in the top of the fifth extended CSUN's lead to 7-4.  A double and a single in the sixth gave the Matadors another run. A walk and another single scored one more run for CSUN, giving them a 9-4 lead halfway through six.

In the bottom of the sixth, Edwards and Jablonski both singled with two outs, but a strikeout squashed another scoring opportunity for Nebraska.

Another homer in the seven put CSUN up 10-4.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Huskers put runners on the corners with a pair of singles by Barrow and Otte. Sarah Yocom got her first-career hit to score Barrow, but CSUN retired the next batter to end the game.

Nebraska continues the Easton Invitational tomorrow, when the team takes on No. 5 Oklahoma at 12:30 p.m. CT, before facing Cal State Fullerton at 5:30 p.m. CT. All of the games this weekend will be available on Huskers.com (radio) and FloSoftball/BTNPlus.
