Game Notes
Olivia Ferrell pitched a career-high 7.0 innings against the Shockers. Olviia Ferrell pitched the second complete game of the season for Nebraska. Ally Riley finished the day 3-for-6, with three RBIs.  Olivia Ferrell had her first multi-hit game after going 2-for-3 against Wichita State

Lincoln, Neb. -  The Nebraska softball team (11-6) topped Wichita State (8-8), 3-1, in game two on Saturday afternoon at Bowlin Stadium to split the home-opening double header.

Olivia Ferrell pitched a complete game for the Huskers, giving up one run on seven hits. She also had two strikeouts and improved to 5-0 on the year.

WSU's Caitlin Bingham dropped to 1-3 on the season, after pitching four innings and giving up three runs and one earned run. 

Alyvia Simmons and Ferrell each had two hits for the Huskers. Ally Riley, Lexey Kneib and Taylor Otte each had one hit for Nebraska as well. 

In the third inning, a two-out single by Otte got NU its first baserunner of the game. Otte stole second to put a runner in scoring position. Simmons singled to left field to advance Otte to third, but a good throw from left field got Otte out a home as she attempted to score. 

In the top of the fourth, a solo shot to center field gave the Shockers a 1-0 lead. A single, a bunt and a ground out put a runner on third with two outs. The Huskers got out of the inning with a foul fly out to third to keep the damage at a minimum. 

Nebraska responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs and taking a 3-1 lead. Edwards drew a leadoff walk. Two batters later, Madi Unzicker reached first on an error, while Edwards advanced to third. Riley singled to score Edwards and move Unzicker to second. Bree Boruff pinch ran for Riley and another single from Ferrell loaded the bases. Metzler reached first on a fielder's choice and Unzicker scored on a throwing error by the second baseman in her attempt to throw Unzicker out at home. Lexey Kneib grounded out to the second baseman, but scored Boruff.

The Shockers made a comeback effort in the seventh. A one-out single brought the tying run to the base. The batter advanced to first on a fielder's choice and the runner had advanced to third on a sloppy throw, but was later ruled ruled out for not touching second base. With two outs, the runner on first advanced to second on a wild pitch, but the Huskers ended the game with a ground out to shortstop.
