Huskers in Action at USBC Women's Championships

Reno, Nev. - Many former Huskers were in action this week at the USBC Women’s Championships at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada.

The tournament began April 19 and runs through a last possible date of June 30. Four-time All-American Julia Bond is one of the many former Huskers in action, and she currently sits first in the Diamond Division in All-Events, with a total pinfall of 2,128. Bond is also second in Singles, fourth in Doubles and her team is fifth in the standings.

Each of the top-three in the All-Events standings are former Huskers, as Diandra (Hyman) Asbaty is second with a total of 2,086, while Lindsay (Baker) Boomershine is third with a score of 2,065.

Boomershine made headlines at the tournament, as she bowled a perfect game on Wednesday, just the 26th perfect game in the 99-year history of the National Women’s Championship.  Only hours after Boomershine’s perfect game, Asbaty rolled a perfect 300 of her own, helping her to a third-place standing in the singles portion of the tournament.

Erin McCarthy is tied for seventh in All-Events and second overall in the singles standings, while Gazmine Mason is 13th and Cassandra Leuthold is 14th in the All-Events Standings.

Recent Husker two-time All-American Kelly Belzeski is also in competition, with her team of Golden Approach Pro currently sitting in first place in the team standings. The Golden Approach Pro team also features four-time Husker All-American Shannon Pluhowsky.
