Final X Lincoln Lineup Completed

The field for Final X Lincoln on June 9 was determined this weekend with the completion of the USA Wrestling Freestyle World Team Trials Challenge Tournament at the Rochester Regional Sports Center. 

Four men's freestyle weight classes and three women's weight classes will be contested, with the winners earning a spot on Team USA for the 2018 UWW Freestyle World Championships. Final X Lincoln is one of three events to determine the United States World Team, as other weight classes will be contested on June 16 in State College, Pennsylvania, and June 23 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Former Husker greats Jordan Burroughs (74 kg/163 pounds) and James Green (70 kg/154 pounds) headline the field at Final X Lincoln. World and Olympic Gold Medalist Kyle Snyder (97 kg/214 pounds) and World Silver Medalist Thomas Gilman (57 kg/126 pounds) will also be wrestling to retain their spots on the men's World Team, as will World Silver Medalist Alli Ragan (59 kg/130 pounds) and World Bronze Medalist Becka Leathers (55 kg/121 pounds) in the women's competition.

An Olympic gold medalist and four-time world champion, Burroughs will be looking to represent the United States at the premier international competition (Olympics or World Championships) for the eighth year in a row. Burroughs is the reigning world champion at 74 kg, and is tied for second in U.S. history with five world or Olympic titles. A two-time national champion and three-time All-American at Nebraska, Burroughs continues lives in Lincoln and train at the Nebraska Wrestling Training Center under NU Head Coach Mark Manning and Associate Head Coach Bryan Snyder. His opponent at Final X will be Isaiah Martinez, who won the Challenge Tournament with a pair of technical falls over Nazar Kulchytskyy. Martinez will be looking to make his first senior world team.

Green, a two-time world medalist, will be looking to make his fourth-consecutive U.S. world team. He was the silver medalist at the 2017 World Championships, and also owns a bronze medal from the 2015 World Championships. Green also continues to live in Lincoln and train at the NWTC after wrapping up a career as a four-time All-American at Nebraska in 2015. He will face Jason Chamberlain, who spent three years training at the NWTC. Chamberlain defeated Frank Molinaro at the Challenge Tournament.

Gilman will face Daton Fix and Snyder will take on Kyven Gadson in the other men's matches at Final X Lincoln. Leathers will face Jacarra Winchester, Ragan will take on Jenna Burkert and Tamyra Stock will wrestle Randyll Beltz (68 kg/150 pounds) in the women's matchups.

The 2018 UWW World Championships will take place Oct. 20-28 in Budapest, Hungary.

Lambert Takes Third in Senior Freestyle, Labriola Falls in Junior World Team Trials Final
Rochester, Minn. - Former Husker wrestler and current NU Volunteer Assistant Coach Tim Lambert placed third at 57 kg/126 pounds at the 2018 USA Wrestling Senior Freestyle World Team Trials at the Rochester Regional Sports Center on Sunday, defeating Zane Richards by a 10-2 score in the third-place match.

Lambert rebounded from a loss to Zach Sanders in the semifinal round with a 16-6 technical fall over Eddie Klimara in the consolation semifinals before defeating Richards in the third-place match.

Former Husker three-time All-American TJ Dudley also competed at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament at 86 kg/190 pounds, as did NWTC athlete Dom Bradley at 125 kg/276 pounds.

In action at the Junior World Team Trials, NU redshirt freshman Mikey Labriola (79 kg/174 pounds) won the challenge tournament on Friday, but fell to Cadet World Champion Aaron Brooks in the best-of-three finals series on Saturday, 2-0, falling just shy of earning a spot on the United States Junior World Team.

Brooks won the first match by a score of 14-10, before pinning Labriola in the second in 3:23.

Sophomore Beau Breske took fourth in the Challenge Tournament at 79 kg, while incoming freshman Peyton Robb competed in the tournament at 70 kg/154 pounds.
