Williams Provides Preview of 2018-19 Huskers

Nebraska women's basketball coach Amy Williams provided a glimpse of the 2018-19 Huskers during a BTN interview with Elise Menaker as part of Big Ten Women's Basketball Media Week on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Williams, who enters her third season at Nebraska, led the Huskers to the 2018 NCAA Tournament after tying for third in the Big Ten with an 11-5 conference mark. Nebraska, which finished with a 21-11 overall record that represented a nation-leading 14-game improvement in the win column over 2016-17, returns its top five scorers from a year ago including preseason All-Big Ten guard Hannah Whitish (Barneveld, Wisconsin).

Nebraska also returns 2018 Big Ten All-Freshman and All-Defensive Team selection Kate Cain. The 6-5 sophomore from Middletown, N.Y., ranked among the top-10 shot-blockers in the nation with a school-record 100 blocks for the Big Red, while also leading Nebraska with 7.0 rebounds per game.

Senior Maddie Simon (Lincoln, Nebraska), who averaged 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in her first season as a starter at power forward in 2017-18, will be featured on Wednesday afternoon as part of Big Ten Women's Basketball Media Week.

Fans are encouraged to follow all of the new information and features throughout the week @B1GWBBall on Twitter and on the Big Ten's social media channels on Instagram and Facebook. Husker fans can follow Nebraska women's basketball all season long @HuskersWBB on Twitter.

The Huskers will tip-off their 2018-19 season with a free Open Practice tonight at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., with the first 1,000 fans receiving a free Husker T-shirt. An autograph session with the Huskers will follow the practice at approximately 8 p.m.

Nebraska will begin exhibition play against Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now at Huskers.com.
