Simon Shares Insight Heading into Senior Season

Nebraska senior Maddie Simon took center stage Wednesday afternoon during an interview with BTN's Elise Menaker as part of Big Ten Women's Basketball Media.

Simon, who was one of the most improved players in the Big Ten Conference last season, is preparing for her second season as a Husker starter. The 6-2 power forward from Lincoln averaged 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last season while helping Nebraska to a 14-game improvement in the win column.

The only four-year member of Nebraska's active roster, Simon talked about her family connection to the University of Nebraska, her improvements in the Husker strength and conditioning program and her commitments to Nebraska's award-winning Academic and Life Skills programs during the four-minute interview.

"It has been such an amazing experience getting to play in Lincoln in front of my family, in front of friends and just for the team that I grew up watching and loving," Simon said. "Through the ups and downs we've really just learned how to stick together, fight through the adversity and just stay strong, stay as a team and really just play together no matter what was going on."

Simon's BTN interview followed Nebraska Coach Amy Williams' appearance on Tuesday afternoon, which has received well over 17,000 views at @B1GWBBall, the official Twitter home of Big Ten women's basketball.

Women's basketball fans can follow Nebraska all season long at @HuskersWBB on Twitter along with Nebraska's channels on Facebook and Instagram.

The Huskers open exhibition play with Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m., and season tickets are on sale now. In addition, Nebraska's new "Starting 5 Pack" is also on sale, while single-game tickets will go on sale on Thursday at 10 a.m. (CT) at Huskers.com.
