Bloomington- The Nebraska swim and dive team began competition in the 2019 Big Ten Championships with two solid relay performances.
In the 200-yard medley, the Huskers (Haebig,Beeler, Posthuma, Helferich) posted a 10th-place finish with a time of 1:40.17. This is the fourth all-time fastest time for Nebraska.
The Big Red (Haebig, Worrall, Gonzalez, Flatt) finished ninth in the 800-yard freestyle coming in at 7:16.18.
“The first day is very exciting part of the meet because there’s a lot of anticipation for the first couple of relays. We definitely had some good performances today. Ideally, we want to come out. I think we were gunning some school records in those events, we fell a little short, but we had some good performances. It was something we can build on,” head coach Pablo Morales said.
Nebraska concludes session one at 10th place with 74 points. The Huskers will continue competition tomorrow for session two, which will begin at 10 a.m.
