Huskers Set to Host Big Red Invitational

Friday-Sunday, March 1-3 – 1:05 p.m. 8:35 a.m. 8:55 a.m. 

Lincoln, Neb.- The third-ranked Nebraska women’s bowling team is set to host the annual Big Red Invitational this Friday through Sunday at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln.

10 teams will compete at Sun Valley Lanes including seven of the top-25 teams, as ranked in latest National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 Poll. The list of teams joining the Huskers in Lincoln includes No. 1 McKendree, No. 4 Arkansas State, No. 13 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 15 Lincoln Memorial, No. 16 Central Missouri, No. 18 Maryville, Valparaiso (RV), Drury, and Lincoln (Mo.).

Friday’s four baker matches begin at 1:05 p.m., Saturday’s gameplay will consist of five traditional games beginning at 8:35 a.m. and Sunday's best-four-of-seven baker style matches will begin at 8:55 a.m. (CT). Promotional activities for Friday’s action include a free slice of pizza and a drink for the first 50 fans and free t-shirts for the first 150 fans. Fans will also be able to enter a raffle for a Husker bowling ball and participate in a poster making station. Admission to the tournament is free all weekend.

Big Red Invitational Notes 
This season will mark the eighth time in nine seasons that the Huskers have hosted the Big Red Invitational. The Huskers took home the tournament title last year with Julia Bond leading the Huskers in the individual standings. Bond, Raquel Orozco and Meghan Straub earned sports on the all-tournament team.
