Madison, Wis. - The Nebraska softball team (21-29, 9-13 Big Ten) scored four runs in the first two innings, but the offense went silent through the final five, as Wisconsin (37-11, 14-8 Big Ten) snatched a 5-4  on Saturday. With the win, the Badgers even the series, as Nebraska won game one on Friday night. 

Nebraska out-hit Wisconsin 8-7. Rylie Unzicker led the Huskers going 2-for-3 with one run and a double. Tristen Edwards, Peyton Glatter, Samantha Owen, Madi Unzicker, Courtney Wallace and Bri Cassidy also had one hit. 

Courtney Wallace (4-6) pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up two runs on three hits.  Olivia Ferrell started in the circle for Nebraska and pitched 3.2 innings. She gave up three runs on three hits. Ferrell also had three strikeouts and three walks. Regan Mergele pitched 1.1 scoreless innings of relief. She gave up one hit and had one strikeout and two walks. 

Wisconsin's Haley Hestekin pitched a complete 7.0 innings. She gave up four hits and eight runs. She had no walks and no strikeouts. 

Nebraska took a 1-0 lead in the first. Simmons reached on an error and advanced to second. On a fly ball, Simmons reached third. Then Glatter drew a walk to put runners on the corners and a Madi Unzicker doubled to score one run. In the bottom of the inning, Nebraska got in trouble, loading the bases with no outs after three straight walks. However, the Huskers got out of the inning with minimal damage, allowing just one run on a ground out tot he pitcher. 

Nebraska extended its lead in the second, scoring three runs. Rylie Unzicker and Cassidy both singled. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. A sac fly from Simmons scored Rylie Unzicker and Edwards drew  a walk to put another runner on. Then, Owen doubled to score two more.  

The Badgers cut the lead to 4-3, scoring two runs in the fourth off three hit. 

In the bottom of the fifth, the Huskers got in another jam, but got out of it. Wisconsin drew a leadoff walk and a one-out double put the tying run and the go-ahead run in scoring position. Mergele got a big strikeout for the second out, but another walk loaded the bases. However, the Huskers got a ground out to get out of the inning.

In the sixth, Rylie Unzicker hit a leadoff double, but Nebraska couldn't take advantage of the opportunity as the Badgers retired the next three batters. In the bottom of the inning, the Badgers grabbed a 5-4 lead, scoring two runs on three hits.

In the seventh, Nebraska attempted a comeback. Edwards hit a leadoff single and moved to second on a sac bunt. However, the Badgers retired the next two batters to win the game. 

The rubber game is set for Sunday at 10 a.m., which is different than the originally scheduled start time of noon. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus and a radio broadcast will be available on Huskers.com.
