Four Former Huskers Remain at U.S. Women's Open

Six former Nebraska bowlers advanced to the Cashers' Round on Friday at the U.S. Women's Open in Las Vegas. Of the six bowlers that remained, four former Huskers advanced from the Cashers' Round to the round-robin match play portion of the tournament on Friday night.

After the first eight games in round-robin match play, Julia Bond continues to lead the Big Red contingent and is in third place. Bond has a grand total pinfall of 8,381 (205.78 avg.) and went 5-3 in the opening match play round of the tournament. Liz Kuhlkin also finished first round of round-robin match play inside the top-10 and is in 10th with a grand total pinfall of 8,233 (202.08 avg.) and also went 5-3.

Erin McCarthy sits in 18th with a grand total pinfall of 8,154 (202.35, 2-6). Meghan Straub is one spot behind McCarthy and has a grand total pinfall of 8,138 (201.95, 2-6).

Diandra (Hyman) Asbaty and Lindsay (Baker) Boomershine did not advance out of the Cashers' Round and finished in 30th (6,327, 197.72) and 36th (6,182, 193.19), respectively.

The four former Huskers will bowl in the final 16 games of round-robin match play on Saturday. Total pinfall, including bonus pins, for 56 games will determine the five finalists for the stepladder finals on Sunday.
