Jordan Burroughs will be one of 18 talented wrestlers heading to the 2019 Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, this week. The Pan-American Games differ from the Pan-American Championships as the Games feature the 18 Olympic weights across all three styles (Greco-Roman, men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle) and are contested only once every four years.
Burroughs is a two-time Pan-American Games champion, winning in 2011 and 2015. In his most recent Worlds event, Burroughs won Senior World bronze at 74 kg, defeating 2017 World champion Frank Chamizo of Italy in the third-place match.
Burroughs, a four-time World champion and a 2012 Olympic gold medalist, will wrestle in the 74 kg men's freestyle preliminary round on Saturday with the first match beginning at 10 a.m. The finals of the Pan-American Championships will commence at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Select coverage of the Pan-American Games will be streamed live on WatchESPN.
Two-time World medalist James Green will also be in action this weekend, as one of two World Team members competing at the Medved International in Minsk, Belarus.
Green will wrestle in the 70 kg men's freestyle preliminary round on Saturday at 2:30 a.m. with the semifinals slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. The 70 kg men's freestyle finals will take place on Sunday with the first match beginning at 7 a.m.
