Scarlet Wins Fall Scrimmage, 7-2

The Nebraska softball team hit the field for the first time this fall on Sunday playing a Scarlet and Cream Scrimmage at Bowlin Stadium. The Scarlet team was victorious, 7-2. 

Bree Boruff and Peyton Glatter combined for five hits for the Scarlet team. Glatter had a game-high three hits, while Boruff had two. Rylie Unzicker led the other team with three hits. Tristen Edwards, Olivia Ferrell, Lexey Kneib, Payton Huscroft, Brooke Andrews, Keana Pola, Samantha Owen, Ally Riley, and Mikaela Forcum all had hits in the scrimmage as well. 

In the top of the third, the Scarlet team took a 4-0 lead. Andrews singled and Boruff and Edwards hit back-to-back triples, to plate two runs. Cam Ybarra drew a walk and Glatter doubled to scored two more runs. 

The Scarlet team scored a pair of runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to jump out to a 7-0 lead. 

Cream got on the board in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs off four hits from Unzicker, Pola, Owen and Riley. 

The Huskers continue their fall season on Sept. 22 when they welcome Omaha to Bowlin Stadium for a doubleheader beginning at noon. Admission is free and concessions will be open.
