Oxford, Miss. - The No. 4 Nebraska Rifle team defeated No. 7 Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss., today by a final match score of 4,675-4,665. The Huskers' air rifle team score of 2,368 is the second-highest in program history.
The Huskers fell behind in smallbore with a team score of 2,307. Elena Flake led the Huskers with 582, followed by Hana Musser with 579. Macey Way and Emily Cheramie both fired 573. Samantha Peterson fired 572 to round out the squadded scores.
Way was out front for the Huskers in air rifle, firing 595 to lead the team to a total score of 2,368. She was followed closely by Flake and Cheramie, who both shot 592. Maddie Korthas fired 589 and Musser shot 582 to round out the squadded scores. Shooting independently, Peterson fired 589. Elena's total combined score of 1,174 was highest on the day for either team.
Ole Miss fired a combined smallbore score of 2,309, led by Abby Buesseler's 582. In air rifle the Rebels shot 2,356, led by Kristen Derting, who fired 593.
The Huskers are back in action next weekend for the NCAA Qualifier in Murray, Ky. That match will begin at 9 a.m. and fans can follow on social media.
