Columbia, Mo. --- Nebraska held No. 21/23 Missouri to one run through five innings, but a big sixth inning propelled the Tigers to a 7-1 win over the Huskers on Saturday in NU's first of two games on the day.
The Huskers had seven hits on the day. Ally Riley and Rylie Unzicker each went 2-for-3 while Tristen Edwards, Samantha Owen and Olivia Ferrell each had one hit.
In the circle, Ferrell (2-5) pitched a complete 6.0 innings. She gave up seven runs - five earned - on 11 hits and had three strikeouts.
Mizzou's Emma Nichols (2-2) pitched 6.0 innings. She gave up one run on six hits and recorded three strikeouts.
The Tigers scored first taking a 1-0 lead in the third after a pair of hits and a wild pitch.
In the fifth, Payton Huscroft reached on a fielder's choice and Carson Fischer ran for her. Bree Boruff drew a walk to put a pair on. With two outs, Unzicker came up with a clutch single to score Fischer and tie the game at 1-1.
Mizzou reclaimed the lead in the sixth after scoring six runs including two unearned. The Tigers capitalized off a Husker error and also had five hits which included two doubles and two homers.
Nebraska attempted a comeback in the seventh. Riley hit a leadoff single, but Mizzou retired the next three batters to end the game.
The Huskers play Wichita State immediately following this game.
