Former Huskers Find Success in PWBA

Lincoln, Neb. - Former Nebraska bowlers Julia Bond and Gazmine Mason have both won a regional in the PWBA.

Mason who bowled for Nebraska from 2013-17 claimed a victory at the East Providence Regional, winning 238-174 against Summer Jasmin  on Feb. 22, 2020. Mason was a three-time NTCA All-American (Third Team), made the NCAA All-Tournament Team twice, and NTCA Scholastic All-American (2014) for the Huskers. Mason earned several other awards at Nebraska including a three-time Academic Big Ten recipient, making the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll six times and the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team five times, and also was a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award recipient. 

Bond bowled for the Huskers from 2014-19 also bowled her way to win at the Iowa Regional on March 1, 2020. On her way to a victory, Bond won 204-180 against Jodi Gawlik, 215-156 versus Kayla Crawford, and 207-171 as she faced Ayra Nur Jehan Aminuddin for the tournament title. Bond earned NTCA All-American First Team Honors three times and was a NTCA All-American (Third Team) in 2015. She also made the NCAA All-Tournament Team twice and was the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Bowler in 2015. Bond was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, nine-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and four-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. She was a three-time winner of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award.

Bond and Mason are tied in fifth with 15,000 points on the 2020 BOWLTV Cup Points List.

The PWBA will hold its next regional on March 28, 2020.
