Nebraska Adds Five Gymnasts

The Nebraska women's gymnastics program adds five athletes, announced Head Coach Heather Brink on Friday. Caroline Williams (Roswell, Ga.), Chloe Lorange (Laval, Quebec), Kinsey Davis (Cornelius, N.C.), Joanne De Jesus-Cortes (Lago Vista, Texas) and Danielle Press (Conroe, Texas) will join the team as freshmen in 2021.

Williams is a level 10 gymnast training at Roswell Gymnastics in Roswell, Ga., under coaches Juan Pablo Monterroso, Karla Monterroso, Lorenzo Wyatt and Yulia Yurkina. She finished sixth on floor exercise at the 2019 Junior Olympic Nationals and is a four-time Regional Qualifier. 

"Caroline is a beautiful gymnast to watch," Brink said. "Her attention to detail shows in her beautiful lines and clean gymnastics."

Lorange is a level 10 gymnast currently training at Club Gymnix in Montreal, Quebec, under coach Katerine Dussault. In 2019 she placed first in the all-around at the Canada Winter Games as part of Team Quebec.

"Chloe has beautiful artistry and attention to detail that sets her apart," Brink said.

Davis is a level 10 gymnast training at Southeastern Gymnastics in Weddington, N.C. under coaches Ludmilla Shobe and Sofia Managadze. She qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals three times, and finished second on uneven bars, third on the balance beam and eighth in the all-around at the event in 2019.

"Kinsey's parents [are] both alumni [of] the University of Nebraska and [were] both members of the gymnastics programs," Brink said.  "She brings with her a world-class uneven bars routine."

De Jesus-Cortes is a level 10 gymnast training at Capital Gymnastics in Cedar Park, Texas, under coach Zach Crumpton. She is a three-time Texas State and regional qualifier.

"Nebraska is Joanne's dream school," Brink said. "She brings her passion and commitment to continue to learn and grow in her gymnastics abilities."

Press is a level 10 gymnast currently training at World Championship Centre in Spring, Texas, under coaches Cecile Jandi, Laurent Landi, Mei Liu and Jeremy Veit. After suffering a UCL tear, Press received reconstructive surgery in 2018 and returned to the gym for some of the most impressive performances of her career.

"Danielle brings power to this class," Brink said. "She has the ability to perform a high level of skills and provide depth in our floor line up."

Brink also announced Friday that sophomore Adnerys De Jesus has been dismissed from the Husker women's gymnastics program for a violation of team rules.
