Postgame Notes
*-Nebraska falls to 5-5 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and tonight’s loss was NU’s first home loss in the Challenge since 2015
*-Kobe Webster scored a season-high 20 points off the bench in the loss. It was his 25^th career 20-point game and first at Nebraska. Webster’s six 3-pointers was a personal best, as he had five 3-pointers on seven other occasions
*-Webster’s six 3-pointers was the most since Glynn Watson Jr. had seven 3-pointers against Iowa on March 10, 2019.
*-Nebraska finished +9 on the glass, the Huskers’ second-best total under Fred Hoiberg
*-Nebraska forced a season-low three steals after averaging 12.0 per game in the first four contests

On the team’s mood:
“They were bothered by it. Kobe (Webster) was doing a really good job at talking and trying to keep the guys spirits and talking about how we need to put it behind us and bounce back with a good solid day tomorrow. We are going to get ready for one of the top teams in the country against Creighton on Friday, our first road test. It was dejected though but we have to try and lift their spirits and put it behind us and get ready to go and hopefully play a complete game on Friday. We are going to have to.”
 
On the shooting:
“I thought we had some really good looks, and I thought we forced a couple of them. I thought we had some where we were all by ourselves wide open we just didn’t convert them. The percentage was a little better mostly because of Kobe, who was 6-of-7. We got to step up when we are open and knock those down. Teddy had a very uncharacteristic night going four for 16, but he is going to knock down shots. That’s just who he is. That’s just what he’s done over the course of his career. Just continue to look for the good ones and keep our movement. That was a thing offensively that we didn’t do a good enough job when they went man. I thought our zone attack was good. We have got ro do better against the man and a lot of that is our movement. Again that’s who we are and that will be the emphasis at practice tomorrow and we will be better on Friday.”
 
On the turnovers:
“It started the first half with the 11 turnovers had a couple charges had a couple very careless passes. We talked about them converging on the ball. They have great hands. Alvarado that’s what he does. He gets into your body and has great hands to force some of those turnovers. You can live with the five in the second half but we have a goal of keeping it 10 or under. This is two games in a row now. I think 15 in the last one and 16 tonight. We have to take care of the ball better.”

On the team’s performance
“Great win for the Yellow Jackets. Really proud of our guys. Nebraska came in averaging about 80 points a game, a very high-octane offensive team. We really guarded tonight. Back-to-back games we played at a high level or who we need to be and who we are and what our staple is defensively. We held them 37% from the field and 34% from three. I thought our changing of defense kept them off rhythm. So, we're really proud of our defense. Secondly, they came in averaging forcing teams almost 20 turnovers a game and 12 steals a game, which was top ten in the country. Once again, we took care of the ball and had single digit turnovers. We didn't shoot the ball great. We had a lot of open shots we didn't make that we usually do, but we won the game through defense and through ball sharing.”
 
On his decision to substitution late in the second half
“I thought Michael Devoe kept us in the game that first with his offense. I thought Jordan Usher has some great backdoor passes in the first half and had some great defensive rebounds in the second half. It was just a feel thing. If a group is playing well, I usually leave that group in. There's a couple times I was going to send Moses (Wright) in at one time. That’s just kind of how it is. That's how I am as a coach.”
 
On the aggressive start to the game and how the team navigated the rest of the game
“Jose (Alvarado) played with three fouls in the first half. Jose did a good job of taking care of himself and being smart. We just grinded it and grinded it and kind of mucked it up. Our guys just deserve all the credit. They were excellent. They defended at a high level and that’s what its about. The credit goes to those guys.”
 
On Nebraska being tough on the offensive glass
“They are a good team. I think Coach Hoiberg is one of the best coaches in the game. They are very talented. They are long. They did come in with great rebounding numbers. But based on our small size, especially when we are in the zone, there’s times when we get hurt on the class when we are in zone.”
