Nebraska Signs Anna Callan

Lincoln - The fourth-ranked Nebraska bowling team announced the signing of Anna Callan to join the team for the 2021-22 season.

"Anna will be a great addition to our program," Head Coach Paul Klempa stated. "She is a fierce competitor and has a very supportive family. Her brother and sister are current collegiate players. Competitive bowling just runs in her family. Anna is a four-time conference champion in high school bowling in Wisconsin and has won multiple titles in very competitive tournaments in her region, including being the 2020 Midwest Youth Champion. I know Anna is as excited to be a Husker as we are to welcome her to the family that is Husker Bowling."

Callan chose Nebraska because " walking on campus, I just fell in love with it. Then meeting with Coach Klempa and Coach Shannon on Zoom I knew it was where I wanted to be."  She chose Nebraska over Arkansas State and St. Ambrose.

Callan attends Holmen High School, where she was coached by her father Chaz Callan. During her career, she holds a high of a perfect game score 300 and has a high series score of 771. Her accomplishments include being a Minnesota Junior Bowlers Tour Champion, Junior Bowlers Scholarship Tour Champion, 2020 Midwest Youth Champions, along with earning her way to being a four-time Conference All-Star and State Qualifier.

She has qualified for state for the fourth consecutive year and will compete for a state title this weekend. Her team won its conference championship for the third consecutive time in 2021.This season, Callan has had a 90% fill percentage where she was able to bowl a strike or spare to leave no open frames.

As a junior, Callan qualified for state and was a conference All-Star, leading her team to a conference title for the second straight year. She bowled her was to being the 2020 Midwest Youth Champion.

Callan is the daughter of Jill and Chaz Callan and has one sister, Kayla, and one brother, Nolan. She intends to study biology at Nebraska.
