Lincoln, Neb. – University of Nebraska Soccer Coach John Walker announced the naming of former Husker defender Samantha Areman as the volunteer assistant coach for the Husker program Monday morning.
Areman spent 2020-21 as an assistant coach at Norris High School, helping lead the team to the state championship match and a 20-1 record, after finishing under .500 the previous season.
Areman was a four-year letterwinner for the Huskers from 2011-2014, capturing two Big Ten championship titles. The 2014 Big Ten Sportsmanship award winner and recipient of the 2015 Nebraska Heart and Soul Award recorded 41 starts and 75 games played, scoring two goals and tallying five assists. Areman, who graduated in 2015, was named Academic All-Big Ten three times and was a nine-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
