Burroughs, Green Qualify for World Championships

Lincoln, Neb. – Former Husker greats Jordan Burroughs and James Green secured a spot on the U.S. team and will compete at the 2021 Senior World Championships on Oct. 2-10 in Oslo, Norway after winning their divisions at the Senior World Team Trials hosted in Lincoln, Neb. 
 
At 70 kg in the men's freestyle, Green defeated Jordan Oliver in the semifinal match 6-4 to place himself in the final best two out of three championship series against Ryan Deakin. Green beat Deakin in two-straight matches as he forced a step out with five seconds left in the second to win 4-2. The upcoming trip to Norway will mark Green's sixth Senior World Championships.
 
Burroughs' story was similar as he defeated Jason Nolf 5-3 in the semifinals of the 79 kg freestyle division to qualify for the championship series against Alex Dieringer. Using three double legs, Burroughs took the first match 10-5. In the second, Burroughs won 4-3 to qualify for his 10th Olympic or World Team Championships combined. He has won eight previous medals, with five gold and three bronze.
