The Nebraska wrestling team will face a challenging 2021-22 schedule that features eight of the top-25 finishers from last season's NCAA Championships, Nebraska Coach Mark Manning announced on Wednesday.
The Huskers will host the Nebraska Duals against Nebraska-Kearney and Chadron State on Thursday, Nov. 11, before their matchup the following week against North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The Tar Heels finished 16th at the 2021 NCAA Championships.
NU will travel to Brookings, S.D., on Sunday, Nov. 21 for the Daktronics Open followed by the Cliff Keen Invitational, with a field of 35 teams, on Dec. 3-4 in Las Vegas, Nev. The Huskers return to Lincoln and face South Dakota State on Saturday, Dec. 18.
Conference competition will feature eight duals, four home and four away, with Big Ten action beginning in Nebraska's home opener against Purdue on Friday, Jan. 7.
Minnesota will host the Huskers in Minneapolis on Friday, Jan. 14. The Gophers finished seventh at the 2021 NCAA Championships.
On Friday, Jan. 21, the Huskers stay on the road to collide with Wisconsin, a top-25 finisher at last season's NCAA Championships, in Madison on Friday, Jan. 21. On Sunday, Jan. 23, the Big Red battle Northwestern in Evanston.
Following a one week break from competition, the Huskers return home to the Devaney Center to take on Michigan on Friday, Feb. 4. The Huskers will then make the trip to University Park for a battle with nine-time national champion Penn State on Sunday, Feb. 6 or will wait to face the Nittany Lions until the next weekend on Friday, Feb. 11.
NU will close out Big Ten regular-season action at home with two duals against top programs. On Sunday, Feb. 13, Nebraska competes against Illinois at the Devaney Center, and the reigning national champion and border-rival Iowa travels to Lincoln to conclude regular-season competition on Sunday, Feb. 20.
The Big Ten Championships will be hosted by Nebraska in Lincoln on March 5-6 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena. The NCAA Championships will be in Detroit, Mich., March 17-19.
