Meet Day: Scarlet vs. Cream Intrasquad

Nebraska's swimmers and divers prepare for 2021-22 by facing off against each other in the annual Scarlet vs. Cream intrasquad meet at the Devaney Center Natatorium at 4 p.m.

The Huskers are coming off their best NCAA Championship finish in 20 years after taking 26th at nationals in Greensboro, N.C., in mid-March. The Big Red also produced their best Big Ten Championships finish since joining the conference in 2011-12.

All-American and Big Ten Champion Autumn Haebig will lead the deepest and most talented collection of Husker swimmers in Coach Pablo Morales' tenure. Haebig joins fellow senior captain Rachel Powers, who returns after redshirting in 2021-22, in leading the Scarlet.

Powers, along with Scarlet teammates Ilaria Murzilli and Shannon Stott, helped Nebraska's distance team open 2021-22 by winning the CSCAA Open Water National Championship at Lone Star Lake in Lawrence, Kan. (Sept. 17). The Scarlet divers are led by All-American and Big Ten medalist Sara Troyer, while 10-time NISCA All-American JoJo Randby will make her Devaney collegiate debut in the water she won nine high school golds for Omaha Marian.

All-American Audrey Coffey and fellow captain Madesyn Ronquillio will lead the Cream team. Coffey, Nebraska's school-record holder in the 1,650 free, did not compete at the CSCAA Championship, but Cream teammates Katelyn Kilpatrick and Molly Rosenthal did.

Highly touted international freshman Milica Opacic (Novi Sad, Serbia) is expected to be a newcomer to watch for the Cream, along with two-time All-Big 12 transfer Emily Haimes. Returners Hallie Roman and Reagan Hinze will lead the Cream dive corps.

Nebraska will open regular-season home dual action next Saturday by taking on South Dakota State. Action will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Devaney Center Natatorium.
